Eloralintide
What it is & what research shows
Study example availableEloralintide is Lilly’s investigational selective amylin receptor agonist. Amylin signaling contributes to satiety; this molecule is distinct from cagrilintide, semaglutide and tirzepatide. A published randomized phase 2 trial evaluated weight reduction over 48 weeks in adults without type 2 diabetes. It has progressed into phase 3 development; its development code is LY3841136. [1.1][1.2][1.3]
One selected study: Preliminary sponsor results compared eloralintide plus tirzepatide with individual treatments and placebo. 367 adults with overweight/obesity and type 2 diabetes in a randomized, double-blind trial. Separate injections over 48 weeks; the reported top combination targeted eloralintide 9 mg plus tirzepatide 15 mg. Frequency was not verified for this card. Efficacy-estimand weight change: -23.3 percent for that combination, -14.8 percent for tirzepatide and -3.0 percent for placebo. Adverse-event discontinuations across combination arms: 10.8–27.0%, versus 2.9% with tirzepatide. Sponsor disclosure, not a peer-reviewed full report. Combination-versus-placebo was primary; active comparisons were secondary. Missing confidence intervals and alternative estimands limit interpretation. GI events were more frequent with combinations. Open studies and trial records- Uses & research
A published randomized phase 2 trial evaluated weight reduction over 48 weeks in adults without type 2 diabetes. It has progressed into phase 3 development; its development code is LY3841136. [1][2][3]
- Known half-life
No source-verified value in this profile yet. A treatment schedule or duration of an effect is not a drug half-life.
Half-life describes how quickly the measured drug concentration falls by half. It does not set a dosing interval.- Evidence & important limits
Nausea and fatigue were common in the trial. A weight-loss result does not establish muscle preservation, superiority over another drug studied in a different trial, or long-term clinical outcomes. LY3532226 refers to macupatide and should not be used as an eloralintide alias. [1][2][3]
Safety & evidence boundaries

Understand the evidence types
Read the model and design first, then the population, outcome and limitations. These categories describe evidence, not a best-compound ranking.
- Randomized human trials
- Compare assigned interventions. Randomization does not by itself establish low bias or relevance to every population.
- Controlled human studies
- Use a comparison group; allocation and confounding still matter.
- Prospective human research
- Follows participants forward. It may be observational or interventional, so this is not a separate quality grade.
- Observational human research
- Describes associations. Confounding can explain differences.
- Case reports and series
- Useful for unusual events and safety signals, not reliable rates or effect sizes.
- Animal research
- Can test biology and function in a living model. Human exposure, benefit and safety remain separate questions.
- Cell and tissue research
- Tests responses in a preparation, including human-derived cells. It is not a human participant trial.
- Mechanistic and computational evidence
- Helps explain or predict a pathway; predictions need experimental and clinical testing.
- Anecdotal reports
- Self-reported experiences can generate questions. Product identity, selection bias and other interventions may be uncontrolled.
Systematic reviews synthesize studies and depend on their quality. Preprint status and abstract versus full-paper reading are separate labels. Citation popularity measures attention, not reliability. A study summary is not a formal quality appraisal.
