Does tesamorelin specifically remove belly fat?

Visceral fat, pinchable fat, and general weight loss are different outcomes.

Evidence at a glanceRandomized evidence concerns HIV-associated abdominal adiposity

Tesamorelin has demonstrated reductions in visceral adipose tissue, the fat inside the abdomen around organs, in trials of people with HIV and excess abdominal fat. That is a real clinical finding. It is not the same as proving that tesamorelin selectively removes the pinchable fat over someone’s abs.[1]

The pooled phase 3 studies measured abdominal fat with imaging and studied a defined clinical population. Body weight, subcutaneous fat, and visceral fat did not behave as interchangeable outcomes. Results from those participants should not be presented as a guaranteed aesthetic result for a lean bodybuilder or as a general obesity-treatment comparison.[1]

Maintaining the effect also matters: visceral-fat reductions were not fully maintained after treatment was withdrawn in the trial extension. A useful interpretation asks which fat compartment changed, in whom, and for how long. “Belly fat” is too imprecise a label to answer those questions or predict an individual response.[1]
